In January, the extraction of oil and gas, as well as the production of gasoline and diesel, decreased in Uzbekistan, according to data from the Statistics Agency.
Last month, the volume of oil extraction was 55.1 thousand tons, which represents an 8.7% decline compared to the same period in 2024. Consequently, the production of automotive gasoline plummeted by more than 20% (compared to a 10.8% drop last year).
The extraction of natural gas showed a decrease of 3%, amounting to 3.87 billion cubic meters. This figure has been declining for at least five consecutive years since 2021. Additionally, the production volume of gas condensate fell by 9.6%, totaling 101 thousand tons.
The most significant decline was observed in the production of diesel fuel, which dropped by more than a third.
At the same time, a positive trend was noted in the extraction of coal. In January, over 408.8 thousand tons of coal were produced, marking a 14.3% increase.
Furthermore, the output of electricity decreased by 4.3% — from 7.57 to 7.25 billion kWh. For large enterprises, electricity production fell by 18% (to 5.79 billion kWh), which was partially offset by a threefold increase in small business entities (1.46 billion kWh). The latter refers to "green" energy.
The production volume of thermal energy also increased by almost half, exceeding 4.2 million Gcal.
Earlier, Spot reported that in January, automobile production in Uzbekistan decreased by 4.4%.
