The Supreme Court of Uzbekistan has made a ruling concerning several individuals connected to former presidential administration employee Komil Allamjonov. According to the court's press service, complaints from seven citizens who were subjected to administrative detention were reviewed.
These individuals are B. Yokubov, S. Sidikov, A. Kurbonmurodov, A. Tashov, A. Salimov, J. Turgunov, and K. Zufarov. They were all previously sentenced to 15 days of detention.
The basis for this action stemmed from articles of the Administrative Offenses Code — the first part of Article 183, which addresses petty hooliganism, and Article 194, which pertains to the failure to comply with lawful demands from law enforcement officers.
The process began in mid-January 2025 when the lawyers for these individuals filed complaints. They claimed that the detention was imposed without sufficient grounds. The legal proceedings were prolonged, but ultimately, the Supreme Court concluded that there was simply not enough evidence to support any legal violations by these individuals. As a result, all decisions regarding their detention were deemed invalid, and the case was completely terminated.
Furthermore, during the case review, it became apparent that law enforcement officials did not exert adequate effort to gather the necessary evidence. Consequently, a private representation was sent to the Ministry of Internal Affairs highlighting the shortcomings in their work.
Similar concerns were also directed to the Qualification Board of Judges. This was due to the fact that some judges who reviewed the case in its early stages did not pay attention to the weak evidentiary basis and still issued a detention ruling.
