On March 31 of this year, an historic meeting will take place in the Tajik city of Khujand: for the first time, the leaders of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan will gather for a trilateral summit. This was announced on February 25, 2025, by the Deputy Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan, Edil Baysalov, during his speech at the 58th session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva.

This summit represents an unprecedented event in the region's history and marks a new phase in the development of relations among the three Central Asian states. The meeting of heads of state aims to strengthen regional cooperation and outline strategic directions for joint efforts.

It is expected that the presidents will focus on discussing key issues related to ensuring security, stability, and sustainable development in Central Asia. Among the proposed topics for negotiation are the fight against transnational crime, the development of trade and economic ties, deepening cultural and humanitarian interaction, as well as jointly addressing issues of rational water resource management and climate change adaptation.

It is worth noting that preliminary consultations for the summit have already been held. On January 8 of this year, a meeting of the prime ministers of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan took place at the intersection of the three countries' borders, where some aspects of the upcoming agenda were discussed.

The summit in Khujand is intended to be a logical continuation of this high-level dialogue and to provide a new impetus for multilateral cooperation in Central Asia. Political analysts view this event as an important step towards forming a closer and more effective regional partnership that promotes peaceful and sustainable development throughout the region.
