Shavkat Mirziyoyev is speaking at a session of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis dedicated to the appointment of the Prime Minister. This was reported by the president's press secretary, Sherzod Asadov.
The head of state highlighted a twofold increase in the economy over the last five years. The GDP has surpassed $100 billion for the first time, and the World Bank has classified Uzbekistan among the top three fastest-growing economies in Europe and Central Asia.
The average income per capita is approaching the $3000 mark. The poverty rate has halved since 2019, dropping to 11%, and it is expected to decrease to 9% this year.
Export volume has nearly doubled, reaching $25 billion, while the gold and foreign exchange reserves have exceeded $40 billion. By the end of this year, GDP is expected to increase to $110 billion, and by 2030, it is likely to reach $200 billion, stated Mirziyoyev.
To achieve this goal, it is necessary to maintain an economic growth rate of 6-7% annually over the next five years. The new government's task will be to reduce inflation to 5-6% and the budget deficit to 3%.
It is also important to increase the annual volume of lending to $30 billion, and exports to $45 billion, with at least half being finished products. The volume of investments should reach $100 billion by 2030.
The president noted the potential to increase the annual flow of foreign tourists to 15 million people. This will generate $5 billion from the export of tourism services.
Additionally, the importance of digital technologies in bringing the informal economy "out of the shadows" was emphasized. Next year, the goal is to raise the share of online transactions to 60% of all payments.
Another priority area is the implementation of key measures for cooperation with the World Trade Organization. Uzbekistan is expected to become a member in the coming years, stated the head of state.
Earlier, Spot reported that the president called for accelerating the adoption of laws regarding the electricity market, AI, and medical insurance.
