South Korean Hyundai Rotem has proposed to establish the production of high-speed electric trains in Tashkent.

The leadership of the Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan and a delegation from Hyundai Rotem have discussed a project aimed at localizing the production of modern electric trains. Previously, "Uzbekiston Temir Yullari" signed a contract with the South Korean company for the purchase of six high-speed trains for nearly $200 million, reports a correspondent from Podrobno.uz.

The negotiations were held by Deputy Minister of Transport Jasurbek Choriyev and the head of Global Rail Group Kwak Chol Hoon.

According to the Ministry of Transport, the guests presented a project for the production of electric trains operated by the South Korean company KORAIL. The proposal includes establishing production at the Tashkent plant for the construction and repair of passenger cars.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to explore additional opportunities for the project, conduct an analysis of the proposal, and examine new production facilities.
