"Uzbekistan Railways" has opened a new railway station in Chinarkent, as reported by the press service of the Tashkent regional railway hub, which is part of the state company.
The station commenced operations on January 22. A new single-track railway line, 1.5 km in length, was constructed from Khojikent to facilitate suburban transport.
The station features a platform and a 150-meter-long canopy, as well as an underground tunnel for passengers. Anti-slip tiles have been installed for passengers with disabilities.
Additionally, construction has begun on the electrified railway line from Baytkurgan to Parkent, which spans 23.8 km in the Parkent district of the Tashkent region. The project is being implemented by "Boshtransloyikha."
The project plans to build 4 bridges, 2 overpasses, a tunnel, 7 level crossings, and reconstruct 78 water delivery facilities. The new line will primarily serve tourists heading to mountainous areas.
Starting December 2024, a new electric train manufactured by the Russian company "Transmashholding" will operate on the Tashkent - Khojikent route. The six-car train is designed for 586 passengers and can reach speeds of up to 120 km/h.
On December 6, Shavkat Mirziyoyev took a trip to the Bostanlyk district on the new electric train and issued several directives related to the railway. Plans include straightening the winding sections of the line and improving the surrounding areas as part of a renovation program.
Earlier, Spot reported that the fare for passenger trains will increase by 10% starting February 1.
