On November 25, during an extraordinary general meeting of the "Uzcharmsanoat" association, Akbar Anvarjanovich Sultanov was unanimously elected as its new chairman. A new council composition for the association was also approved, as reported by the press service of "Uzcharmsanoat".
Representatives from the executive branch, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the People's Bank, and heads of regional departments and enterprises in the industry participated in the meeting.
The meeting focused on strategic tasks aimed at developing the leather, footwear, and fur industries, and a program for target parameters for 2024-2025 was presented.
Additionally, the target indicators for the association were approved. Leather product production is expected to reach 2.7 billion square decimeters in 2024, footwear production is set at 205 million pairs, and leather goods at 143 million items.

During the meeting at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Akbar Sultanov spoke about ongoing efforts in the industry to maintain product prices through marketing and branding development to enhance competitiveness in the global market, formulating pricing policies, offering competitive prices, and optimizing costs.
In turn, the head of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Davron Vakhabov, emphasized the need to improve production efficiency in the leather sector and to ensure the target parameters for 2024 based on investment and export programs.
In March of this year, the chairman of the "Uzcharmsanoat" association, Fakhriddin Boboev, left his position due to a transition to another job. He later took over the management of the special economic zone "Angren".
The board of "Uzcharmsanoat" then appointed Farhod Nurmukhamedov as the acting chairman of the association. His current position following recent personnel changes in the association has not been disclosed. Only the deputy chairman, Mirsayid Zakhidov, is mentioned on the "Uzcharmsanoat" website.
