The management of "Uzavtosanoat" has approved the development of a new strategy for the automotive industry of Uzbekistan, as reported on the Unified Corporate Information Portal.
The relevant decision was made on December 12. It permits the signing of a contract with the consulting firm Boston Consulting Group to involve them in the strategy's creation.
The contract will need to undergo review at the Center for Comprehensive Expertise of Projects and Import Contracts.
In early December, the head of "Uzavtosanoat," Ulugbek Rozukulov, announced the creation of a development program for the automotive industry through 2030, taking into account current market realities and international experience. According to the top manager, BCG participated in its development.
The program was presented at a meeting with the president at the end of November and aims to create up to 1 million jobs directly or indirectly related to the automotive industry. Rozukulov promised to present the first results in February 2025.
During the presentation, plans for 2025 were announced to produce 450,000 vehicles in Uzbekistan and increase exports in the sector to $700 million. The program also includes expanding cooperation and localizing automotive components.
