The Senate of the Oliy Majlis has approved the law on "Space Activities," as reported by the press service of the Agency for Space Research and Technologies ("Uzbekcosmos").

In Uzbekistan, there is currently no law that defines the principles of space activities, the directions of state policy, the bodies responsible for regulating the sector, their powers, and tasks.

The new bill regulates key aspects of space activities, including goals, principles, directions of state policy, and the powers of responsible bodies. The document outlines the tasks of the Cabinet of Ministers, the Ministry of Digital Technologies, "Uzbekcosmos," and the Ministry of Defense.

Among other provisions are issues related to conducting scientific research in space, the use of satellites for remote sensing, communication and navigation, as well as the utilization of space rocket systems, labeling, and the disposal of space objects.

The Senate noted that the bill pays special attention to the use of space technologies to address challenges in science, ecology, defense, the economy, and the social sphere.

The law also provides for monitoring the impact of space activities on the environment, natural resources, and public health.

Among the main directions of state policy are the development and implementation of strategic directions and state programs in the field of space activities, as well as facilitating the identification of legal violations in economic sectors through the processing of space images.

According to senators, the adoption of the bill will enable the use of space opportunities for the development of agriculture, transportation, geology, seismic safety, and other sectors of the economy.

Earlier, Spot reported that "Uzbekcosmos" identified nearly 2,000 illegal dumps across Uzbekistan.
