“Uztemiryulcontainer” has officially established its first joint venture with the German Rhenus Group. This was reported by the company's press service.
The head of “Uztemiryulcontainer”, Akmal Kamalov, and the authorized representative of Rhenus, Heinrich Kerstgens, held a meeting on November 29. The parties discussed the planned logistics center in the Andijan region.
The creation of this center is stipulated by the presidential decree on the reform of railway transportation from October 2023. The center will handle loading, unloading, storage of containers, prepare block trains, and provide “door-to-door” delivery services.
Following the meeting, Kamalov and Kerstgens signed a protocol on the establishment of the company UzContargo Andijon, as well as the founding documents.
In September 2023, Rhenus and “Uzbekiston temir yo'llari” signed a memorandum of cooperation. It provides for the establishment of a joint venture to manage cargo terminals in Andijan and Samarkand, as well as to assist in increasing cargo railway transportation.
In June of this year, the companies discussed the project for expanding the UTY transport and logistics hub “Ahtachi” in the Andijan region. Additionally, Rhenus announced plans to create two more centers in Tashkent and Samarkand regions.
The Rhenus representative office in Tashkent has been operating since 1996 and services transportation to Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, and the southern part of Kyrgyzstan. Moreover, the company has subsidiaries in Kazakhstan.
