“Uzenergoinspection” has discovered a large illegal mining farm in the Samarkand region, as reported by the press service of the government agency.
In the Ishtikhan district, law enforcement authorities found a mining farm in the basement of a building owned by a family business, consisting of 89 cryptocurrency mining devices with a capacity of 244.4 kW.
According to preliminary calculations, the “grey” mining farm illegally consumed electricity worth 28.89 billion sums ($2.25 million).
In connection with this situation, law enforcement agencies have prepared the necessary documentation. In similar cases involving officials of illegal mining farms, criminal cases have been initiated under paragraph “a” of part 4 of article 169 of the Criminal Code (theft in especially large amounts).
In the first half of the current year, Uzenergoinspection reported 75 cases of illegal cryptocurrency mining. The total cost of the electricity consumed by these operations is 81.6 billion sums.
The largest mining farm discovered this year was found in the Syrdarya region in April. It consisted of 107 cryptocurrency mining devices and consumed electricity worth 34.3 billion sums over two years.
