The Council of People's Deputies of the Tashkent region has approved new tariffs for the collection and storage of household waste.
The new rates will take effect on January 1, 2025, and will apply to facilities managed by the regional branch of the Waste Management Directorate. There are a total of 18 landfills in the region, covering an area of 246 hectares, as noted by the hokimiat.
The tariffs must be approved by the hokim. The payment amounts are listed in the table below:
Type of Waste | Price excluding VAT, sum | Price including VAT, sum |
Liquid (1 cubic meter) | 17,890 | 20,037 |
Solid (1 ton) | 43,423 | 48,633 |
In the autumn of 2023, the Ministry of Ecology announced the introduction of unified tariffs for waste collection in four regions—Tashkent, Samarkand, Andijan, and Fergana. Additionally, rates have increased in Tashkent.
In December, the tariffs for solid waste removal increased in the Bukhara and Namangan regions. The next areas to see increases were Karakalpakstan, Jizzakh, Syrdarya, Surkhandarya regions, as well as the city of Karshi.
As of April, the zero VAT rate for waste collection and removal ceased to be in effect. As a result, tariffs rose by 12%—for instance, for individuals in the capital, they amounted to 8,400 sums per month.
Previously, Spot reported that the Oliy Majlis began considering a law to limit payments for electricity when there are debts for waste removal.
