From January to November, Uzbekistan imported 3.8 million mobile phones, according to the Statistics Agency.
The volume of imports surpassed the total for the entire year of 2023, which was 3.4 million devices. Additionally, their value was significantly higher—$346.5 million compared to $240 million.
China remains the primary supplier of phones, with 3.1 million devices imported over eleven months. Approximately 1 million of these were imported during the three autumn months.
Vietnam ranks second with 535,500 phones, including 130,000 in the autumn. For comparison, over 66,000 Vietnamese devices were imported in August. India rounds out the top three with 110,700 devices, of which 40,400 were imported in the last three months.
There was also a sharp increase in imports from Hong Kong—36,200 devices from September to November compared to 7,000 over the previous eight months. Other countries collectively accounted for just over 5,000 devices.
The "white" import of mobile devices for 2023 was more than 90% supplied by imports from China. Vietnam and India also made it into the top three, while imports through the UAE sharply declined and nearly stopped by the end of the year.
Earlier, Spot reported that Uzbekistan increased gas exports to China by almost half in November.
