On February 1, 2025, Bakhtiyor Ibragimov officially assumed the position of the first Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Republic of Albania. The ceremony for the presentation of credentials took place in the Albanian capital, Tirana, where Mr. Ibragimov met with President Bairam Begaj. The ambassador's residence will be located in Vienna.
The appointment of Mr. Ibragimov to this role marks the beginning of a new stage in Uzbek-Albanian relations. During the meeting with the Albanian leader, key areas for further cooperation between the two countries were discussed. Both sides expressed mutual interest in enhancing trade and economic collaboration, developing cultural exchanges, and expanding tourism ties. President Begaj emphasized the importance of establishing diplomatic relations and expressed hope for fruitful cooperation with Uzbekistan.
In addition to his new role, Bakhtiyor Ibragimov continues to serve as the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Uzbekistan to the Republic of Austria. He also represents Uzbekistan's interests in several international organizations based in Vienna, including the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO), the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), and other UN entities.
The combination of diplomatic posts will enable Ibragimov to effectively coordinate Uzbekistan's interactions with both Albania and key international partners.
