The Committee of State Revenues of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan informs citizens about temporary adjustments to the operating hours of border crossing points with the Republic of Uzbekistan. Soon, the Uzbek side will temporarily suspend the operation of the "Gisht-Kuprik" checkpoint to complete reconstruction work. The specific closure date for "Zhibek Zholy" will be announced later.
To ensure continuous cross-border communication between the states, a bilateral agreement has been reached to open the "Kaplanbek" (Kazakhstan) and "Navoi" (Uzbekistan) checkpoints for the movement of pedestrians, passenger vehicles, and buses. The technical launch of these points has already been completed.
According to the KGD announcement dated January 27, 2025, from January 27 to February 5, the passage of individuals and vehicles through "Kaplanbek" and "Navoi" will be conducted with limited capacity due to commissioning activities. From February 5, 2025, both points will transition to full operational mode.
In the next phase, following agreements between the parties, it is planned to allow cargo vehicles to pass through the specified checkpoints.
According to KGD forecasts, the updated "Kaplanbek" checkpoint will be able to serve up to 20,000 citizens and 800 vehicles per day. This will significantly optimize the border crossing procedure and foster stronger trade and economic cooperation between the two republics. The authorities of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan are taking all necessary measures to minimize any potential inconveniences related to the temporary restrictions. Citizens planning trips in this direction are advised to consider the provided information and stay updated on further news.
