An official ceremony took place for the presentation of credentials to Malta's new ambassador to Uzbekistan, Carmelo Inguanez. This significant event marked the beginning of a new phase in diplomatic relations between the two countries. Uzbekistan's Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov received the credentials from Mr. Inguanez, officially confirming his status as the first ambassador of Malta in the republic. This was reported by the head of the Uzbek Foreign Ministry on his Telegram channel.
The meeting between the heads of the foreign ministries of the two countries went beyond a formal procedure. Minister Saidov and Ambassador Inguanez held discussions focused on the prospects for developing bilateral cooperation.
The parties covered a wide range of issues, including strengthening the legal framework of relations, establishing parliamentary friendship groups, expanding trade and economic ties, promoting tourism exchanges, enhancing collaboration in education, as well as other initiatives aimed at deepening interactions between Malta and Uzbekistan.
Special attention was given to the facilitation of mutual travel. As a result of the negotiations, an agreement was signed to mutually waive visa requirements for holders of diplomatic passports.
This move is intended to enhance contacts at the highest and diplomatic levels, creating favorable conditions for the further development of bilateral relations. It is expected that the removal of visa restrictions for diplomats will accelerate the implementation of joint projects and programs in various fields.
