Due to the temporary closure of the "Tazhen" checkpoint at the Uzbek-Kazakh border for all types of transport, the Committee of State Revenues of the Republic of Kazakhstan announced alternative routes for crossing the border on January 30, 2025.
For freight transport weighing up to 3.5 tons, the "Yallama" checkpoint is open. Individuals traveling in cars and buses can use the "Zangiota" checkpoint. The "Malik" and "Ok Oltyn" checkpoints are accessible for individuals in passenger vehicles. Additionally, the railway checkpoint "Karakalpakia" is operational.
We remind you that the "Tazhen" checkpoint is temporarily non-operational due to ongoing repair work. An official date for the resumption of the checkpoint's operations has yet to be announced. The Committee of State Revenues of the Republic of Kazakhstan advises citizens to take this information into account when planning their trips and to choose alternative border crossing routes. Law enforcement officials from both countries will enhance control at the operational checkpoints to ensure safety and uninterrupted transport movement.
Citizens are recommended to verify information about the operating hours of the checkpoints and the necessary documents for crossing the border in advance. Additional information can be obtained from the official websites of the border services of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Uzbekistan.
