As part of the bilateral cooperation between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Azerbaijan, significant negotiations took place regarding the simplification of migration procedures for citizens of both countries. According to the information agency "Dunyo," representatives from the Visa and Passport Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan conducted online consultations with the leadership of the State Migration Service of Azerbaijan.
During the discussions, particular attention was given to the technical aspects of mutual recognition of biometric ID cards as an official document that facilitates cross-border movements. The meeting also included specialists from the consular services and legal departments of the foreign ministries of both countries.
The parties emphasized that the implementation of this practice would significantly optimize the process of citizen movement between the countries. The new border crossing format will eliminate the need for issuing foreign passports for short-term trips, which is especially relevant in the context of developing trade and economic relations and tourist exchanges.
Experts noted that the realization of this project would serve as an additional incentive to strengthen friendly ties between Tashkent and Baku. A significant increase in tourist flow, expansion of cultural exchange programs, and an increase in the volume of business cooperation are expected.
