The defense ministers of Uzbekistan and Russia have signed a program that establishes strategic cooperation in the military sphere for the period from 2026 to 2030. The signing ceremony took place during the official visit of the head of the Russian military department, Andrei Belousov, to the republic.
The agreement was signed by Uzbekistan's Defense Minister Shukhrat Khalmukhamedev and his Russian counterpart. The strategic cooperation program aims to deepen and expand collaboration between the armed forces of the two nations in the coming years. It encompasses various aspects, including joint exercises, experience and knowledge exchange, military personnel training, and the development of military-technical cooperation.
In addition to the long-term program, the parties approved a joint action plan for 2025. This plan outlines 50 specific measures that facilitate the practical implementation of military partnership. The details of these measures are not disclosed, but it is expected that they will include joint training sessions, delegation visits, and other forms of collaboration.
Shukhrat Khalmukhamedev, the defense minister of Uzbekistan, stated his country's interest in further developing military cooperation with the Russian Federation. He emphasized the importance of united efforts to ensure security and stability in the region.
Andrei Belousov, the head of the Russian Ministry of Defense, noted the high level of mutual trust achieved in the strategic partnership between Moscow and Tashkent. He confirmed Russia's readiness to expand military cooperation with Uzbekistan. According to him, the signing of the strategic cooperation program is a significant milestone in this direction.
