Representatives of 'Uzbekcosmos' shared insights on the work accomplished in 2024 and responded to the question of when Uzbekistan will launch a satellite and an astronaut into space.
Launching astronauts into space is quite an easy task. For example, we could provide $50,000 to $60,000 to our colleagues at NASA, and they would be ready to send our astronauts into space immediately. The reason we are delaying this process is that astronauts should not go to space just to take selfies. Each astronaut must primarily be a scientist or an engineer. It is essential to conduct scientific research in space for the benefit of the state. There are currently many opportunities for discoveries in space. We must reach that point. Only after we develop specific programs in collaboration with the Academy of Sciences and other scientists can we fully address this issue," stated agency representative Mukiddin Ibragimov.
It is worth noting that the 'Uzbekcosmos' agency was established in 2019. The main objective of the agency is to formulate and implement a unified state policy and strategic directions in the field of space research and technology.
