Members of the State Duma from the "Fair Russia - For Truth" faction have proposed significantly tightening the rules for entry and stay in Russia for labor migrants recruited through organized recruitment. According to the draft law, such foreign nationals will no longer be eligible to apply for a residence permit or Russian citizenship.
The deputies also suggest banning the entry of family members and close relatives of these migrants into Russia. The duration of a foreign worker's stay in Russia will be strictly limited to the term of their employment contract.
Employers will be required to open a special account to hold funds sufficient for the return of the migrant to their home country. The existence of such an account will become a mandatory condition for issuing a work permit.
It is important to note that this measure could significantly worsen the situation for Uzbek migrants. Often, many migrants work for extended periods and frequently change their place of employment. If this proposal is adopted, migrants will be forced to work only in the location where they initially came for employment. Employers, in turn, will gain unlimited opportunities and may violate the rights of migrants.
