Uzbekistan and the Philippines have signed a protocol related to the World Trade Organization (WTO).

Uzbekistan has made significant strides towards joining the World Trade Organization (WTO) by completing bilateral negotiations with the Philippines. This is an important step for the republic aiming to integrate into the global trading system. Information about the successful completion of the negotiation process was provided by Uzbekistan's special representative to the WTO, Azizbek Urunov.

The official signing ceremony of the protocol confirming the agreements reached took place in Geneva. The document was signed by Azizbek Urunov and the Permanent Representative of the Philippines to the WTO, Teehanki Manuel.

In his comments on the matter, Urunov expressed gratitude to the Philippine side for their constructive approach and active participation in the negotiation process, particularly highlighting Ambassador Manuel's contribution. He also emphasized the effective work of the negotiating teams from both countries, which made it possible to reach an agreement.

The successful conclusion of negotiations with the Philippines marks Uzbekistan's fourth similar achievement in the past two months. Previously, the republic completed bilateral negotiations for WTO accession with El Salvador, the United States, and China. These agreements reflect Uzbekistan's active efforts to meet the requirements for joining the organization and demonstrate the country's commitment to expanding international trade cooperation. The next steps include finalizing negotiations with the remaining WTO members and ratifying the accession agreement.
