Ravshanbek Alimov has officially been appointed as the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Turkmenistan. The diplomat arrived in Ashgabat to commence his duties, as reported by the news agency "Dunyo."
At 58 years old, Ravshanbek Alimov possesses extensive experience in public service and diplomacy. He received his higher education from the Moscow State Technical University named after N.E. Bauman, and subsequently continued his studies at the Academy of State Administration under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Georgetown University in the USA.
Alimov began his career in 1990 at the regional department of the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations (currently the Ministry of Investments, Industry, and Trade). Over the following years, he held various positions in the President's Office, the Secretariat of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and also led a department in the Ministry of Macroeconomics and Statistics.
A significant portion of Ravshanbek Alimov's career is linked to diplomatic work. From 2002 to 2008, he represented Uzbekistan as ambassador to Ukraine (while also serving in Moldova) and in France (while also serving in Portugal). Since 2008, Alimov has continued his service within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he worked as an advisor at the Uzbek Embassy in Moscow and headed a department and a directorate in the central office of the ministry.
In 2020, Ravshanbek Alimov was elected as a senator and took the position of Chairman of the Senate Committee of the Oliy Majlis on International Relations, Foreign Economic Relations, Foreign Investments, and Tourism.
In his role as the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Turkmenistan, Ravshanbek Alimov succeeded Akmal Kuchkarov, who represented Uzbekistan in this country from 2016 to 2024.
Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan share cultural, economic, and diplomatic ties. The presence of an experienced ambassador will undoubtedly accelerate existing projects in various fields and lay the groundwork for the development of deeper relations between the two countries.
