Members of the LDPR faction, led by party leader Leonid Slutsky, have proposed an initiative aimed at tightening migration legislation in Russia. This was reported by TASS news agency.
It has been noted that a draft law is being prepared in the State Duma of the Russian Federation, which will impose a ban on the residence of labor migrants within a radius of 200 meters from schools, kindergartens, and other institutions where children are present. According to the deputies, this measure will enhance the safety of children and reduce the risk of negative social influence.
The initiative has been prompted by a growing number of complaints from citizens concerned about the presence of labor migrants directly on the premises of schools and kindergartens, especially during renovation work. The draft law not only prohibits residence but also registration of migrants in locations where children are present.
It is important to note that such initiatives evoke mixed reactions in society. Some support them, believing they are necessary for protecting children. Others fear that such restrictions could lead to discrimination against migrants and worsen their social adaptation.
