Katanets has stepped down as head coach of the Uzbekistan national team.

In his statement , Katanec noted that due to his current health condition, he is unable to fully perform his professional duties. He expressed gratitude to the Uzbekistan Football Association (UFA) for their support and fruitful collaboration, as well as wished success to the Uzbekistan national team in the World Cup qualifying matches.

The Uzbekistan Football Association thanked Srečko Katanec for his efforts and wished him a speedy recovery, along with a successful continuation of his coaching career.

Currently, the UFA is actively working on finding and appointing a new head coach who will continue the development of the national team.

Let us remind you that Katanec took charge of the Uzbekistan national team in August 2021.

He has worked with clubs such as "Gorica" and "Olympiacos." He also led the national teams of Slovenia, North Macedonia, and the UAE. He guided Slovenia to their first-ever appearances in the European Championship and the World Cup.
