"The Olympic Council of Asia announces that the 3rd Asian Youth Games, originally scheduled to take place in Tashkent in 2025, will now be held in Bahrain. This decision was made during the organization’s executive committee meeting held today, December 2," stated the official OCA announcement.
So far, the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan and the director of the "Tashkent-2025" project, Oibek Kasimov, have not provided an official comment regarding this decision.
The Youth Summer Asian Games are expected to feature athletes aged 14 to 17 from 43 countries competing in at least 9 sports.
It is worth noting that the first Youth Summer Asian Games took place in 2009 in Singapore, followed by the 2013 games in Nanjing (China) and the 2017 games in Hambantota (Sri Lanka). The 2021 games were planned for Shantou (China), and Tashkent was confirmed as the host for 2025.
Additionally, Uzbekistan was considered as a candidate to host the 2030 Asian Games in Tashkent and Samarkand; however, the bid for their hosting was never submitted.
